About API Jakarta
API is an association of sculpture artists from all over Indonesia, aiming to be a forum for them to build the country’s aesthetics. Established on July 7, 2000, initiated by sculptors Kasman and Gregorius Sidharta in Yogyakarta, API then expanded to various regions in Indonesia, including Jakarta.
API Jakarta (API-J), operating autonomously and playing a role in the development of the city of Jakarta, has been facilitated by the Pusat Kesenian Jakarta at Taman Ismail Marzuki since 2000.
Members of API-J are sculptors among which are lecturers of the Jakarta Institute of Arts and alumni and lecturers of the Indonesian Institute of Arts: Agoes Salim, Agus Widodo, Beby Charles, Benny Ronald Tahalele, Bernauli Pulungan, Budi P.M. Tobing, Cyca Leonita, Darwin, Demas Fajar Ariya, Dianthus Pattiasina, Hanung Mahadi, Henry “Koi” Kresna, Hilman Syafriadi, Jack S. Riyadi, Kusmei Santo, R.M Suarsono, Teddy Murdianto, Yana Sucipto, and Yani Mariani Sastranegara.
In 2023, API-J restructured its organization, electing Cyca Leonita of the millennial generation as chief who has been driving the association to integrate further into society and current social developments.
